A National Forum and the Child Internet Safety Report for the Safe Internet Day

Tirana, January 24, 2019 – In the framework of the Safe Internet Day 2019, SID Albania will organize the National Forum "Safer Internet for Children and Youth in Albania". The Forum will present for the first time in Albania a national report on the child internet safety and is based upon the reports made to the national hotline www.ISIGURT.al

Drafted from experts in the field, the report reflects in detail the entire Internet safety situation in Albania for children and young people. The cases reported on daily bases at the national platform www.ISIGURT.al show that the number of children and young people falling victims to online bullying, identity theft, sexual violence and coercion are growing every year.

The National Forum that will be held on 7 February 2019, will analise the response from the government, civil society, teachers and the industry to create an online secured environment while raise awareness among children and adolescents.

The Forum is organized by The National Safer Internet Centre of CRCA Albania, the National Hotline for Online Child Safety, in collaboration with the National Child Helpline, Child and Youth Policy Hub Albania.

The major speakers of the Forum come of the National Agency on Child Protection, National Police Authority, independent internet regulator (AKEP) and key internet industry representatives in Albania.

Albania joined Safer Internet Day on February 2005. Since then many things have changed and improved. The Albanian National Safer Internet Centre was established in 2018, quite an extraordinary achievement for a small country like Albania.
