Tirana, 20 November 2018 - The Albanian National Child Helpline ALO 116 signed today a cooperation agreement with the Tirana’s Municipality to improve the referral system for children at risk.

Under the International Day of Children's Rights, ALO 116 and the Municipality of Tirana with this agreement show their engagement to turn Albania's capital Tirana, into a friendlier and safe city for children.

For years, ALO 116 111 and the Tirana’s Municipality have had a close cooperation in referring the cases that are reported to the helpline.

This agreement will increase the cooperation among public institutions and civil society organisation in order to achieve common objectives and to implement activities that aim to build a functional and effective child protection system in the Tirana Municipality.  Based on this data collection, analysis and reporting system will be improve and it will increase the awareness among children and citizens on the rights and protection of the children in Tirana Municipality. A special attention is dedicated to the referring to the cases of children at risk that are reported at ALO 116.

ALO 116 will provide for children of Tirana Municipality free psychological support through phone calls for every problem that children might face, information for topics that children consider important and will refer they need to the social services that Tirana Municipality provides. Every case that will be reported to ALO 116 it will refer to the Street Teams and Child Protection Units in the area where the children will identify.

The Albanian National Child Helpline ALO 116 has been established since 2009 and offers for all children at risk free 24/7 counselling and assistance.
